Top 10 Best Gaming Headsets 2021

Now, we all know that when playing any type of video game headphones are almost always essential. But which one is the best to choose? Headphones have been around for over 100 years! However, I’ve narrowed those millions of headphones down to 10 of the best gaming headsets you can buy in 2021.

What We’re Looking For In Gaming Headsets

Comfort: This is the starting point in making the best gaming headsets. Without comfort what’s the point in spending a lot of money on a headset. We test the comfort by spending a couple of hours wearing it, then asking ourselves, “Was it as comfortable as some of these higher-end headphones and/or “Could I wear it longer?”. If the headphone succeeds to make it through our comfort test then it’ll be faced with our next challenge.

Sound Quality: Sound quality is crucial if you’re trying to find a long-term headphone. Smooth but detailed sounds are what we are going for. Nothing to shy, or too bold. In even shorter terms we look for gaming headphones that are kind to our ears.

Mic Check: We usually test this by going to a party with friends. From there if they say that they can’t hear us about 5 times we know that this mic shouldn’t be put on a headphone.

Extra

Looks: This doesn’t have much to do with the overall quality of the headphones but we still look for this feature in a headphone. For me, without sleek and professional looks it doesn’t feel like a matured gaming headphone. These headphones are still affordable so don’t be worried about a $300 leather ear cushion.

Accessories: Sometimes gaming headphones will come with extra accessories. If this is the case, it’ll go straight to our top list. I’m just kidding. For an example of accessories, the Logitech G Pro X provides you with extra ear cushions, one having leatherette material and the extra ear cushions are made from cloth. This will get more pointers considering that you are getting more for less.

For these headphones to be on our best gaming headsets list, they must check off all these boxes. We spend hours on end running tests, finding flaws, and deciding if it’s good enough to be on our list. Now, here are our candidates.

(If you’re interested in a particular gaming headphone, you can click on some of the names below it will then take you to our full review for that headphone)

Starting off at #1 Razer BlackShark v2 Pro

Razer-Blackshark-Headset

Razer BlackShark v2 Pro

The Razer Blackshark v2 Pro is the best gaming headset to buy in 2021 it is truly phenomenal. No matter where you are, the BlackShark v2 won’t disappoint.

I loved how everything was nicely put together with this headphone. Nothing felt out of place, and because of the function buttons being bigger it was easier to navigate the headphone while playing a game. I also admire how well the ear cushions were made. They are comfortable and there was no problem when wearing them for a long amount of time.

One thing that I talked a lot about in my review was how flexible it is. No matter what way you twist or turn it, it’ll be hard to break. At around 160 dollars you can have these headphones. They are one of the more expensive pairs that I have reviewed, but for what you are getting it’s a really good deal.

I enjoyed using this headset. I would say it is definitely one of the best gaming headsets of this year. The noise cancellation and overall quality of the headphone was phenomenal so I definitely recommend checking it out.

Compatibility-Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac

Steelseries headset

Steelseries Arctis 9X

What a headset this is!  The soft ear cushions, flexibility, and looks are amazing.

This headset stands out as no other one has. The headset has a built-in microphone that can be easily pulled out from a small space inside the headset. The microphone has another cool feature which is that when you are muted a red light will glow from the top of your microphone. This makes it so much easier and more effective while in the game. The microphone sadly isn’t the best. A lot of the time my friends would say that I was cutting out or was to quite and they couldn’t hear me. It was a shame because the rest of the headset is phenomenal.

The Arctis 9x is also very comfortable. It took me no time at all to get used to these headphones. The headband is a ski goggle headband this design makes it a “one size fits all”. I liked how they added this feature, it makes it easier to set up your headset and get to gaming. The ear cushions are made with memory foam allowing them to be very breathable.

The headphone itself is fairly light and with the additional ski goggle headband, the headphone floats on your head.
Steelseries overall is an amazing brand. Pros have won more money from using their headphones than any other leading headphone brand. They were also said to be the “Best Gaming Headset for Xbox” by Wired articles.

Compatibility-Xbox(One,Series X/S) Windows 10

Logitech G ProX-Headset

Logitech G ProX

Without a doubt, I believe that this Gaming Headphone is going to stay on our top list for a while. I put it on my list for best gaming headsets because I know this headset has a lot of potential.

With all of its types of adjustability, this headphone fit’s all. It might be a little expensive, but for what you are getting it’s too good of a deal. All the accessories that it comes with will last this headphone for a very good amount of time making sure you won’t have to buy another headphone in a week.

Its comfort is amazing. I find it almost funny because the first time that I put the headphone on It felt almost identical to me pushing two pillows against my face. I think one of the reasons it is so comfortable is because the stitching is super fine. It’s not under or overly stitched. It’s incredible what Logitech was able to do with this headphone.

Also, yes the Blue Voice microphone does work. I had countless people saying “your mic sounds good” or “what mic are you using?”. It’s great how far headphones have come.

(Not to mention you can get a wireless version of this headphone but it does cost around 75 dollars more)

Epos Sennheiser-Headset

Epos Sennheiser Game One headset

The Epos Sennheiser Game One headset has a bit of everything from all different headphones. Its older features make the modern hints more appreciated. The XXL plush velvet ear cushions along with the headband provide impeccable comfort. Also not to forget, the thick plastic exterior makes for great durability.

The volume adjuster is an integrated switch that helps with quick adjustments. This headphone had the best sound out of all the headphones that I have reviewed. It was so easy to detect all in-game noise. For a bit of time, I thought that my Tv’s volume was on but that’s just how clear the sound came through. Out of 10 for the noise, I would give it a 9.5

The microphone is also very simple to use. It is already attached to the headphone so all you’ll need to do is bring it down towards your face. Out of all the microphones that I’ve used and tested my friends said that this one was the clearest. I was really surprised to hear this considering the Blue Voice technology on the Logitech G ProX.

My only concerns were that the velvet material made it feel hot and the clamping force on the headphone was higher than I expected so breaking into the headphone will take about 2 weeks.

Other than that this headphone definitely deserves to be on our list of best gaming headsets.

Compatibility- PC, Mac, Xbox, Play station, Nintendo Switch

HyperX Cloud MIX

HyperX Cloud MIX- Headset

HyperX Cloud MIX

The HyperX Cloud MIX is a headphone for those who want to take gaming to the next level. Its Hi-Res Audio and noise canceling ear cups make the game come to life.

HyperX equipped this headphone with a boom-mic making sure all access background noises stay out of your party conversations. Their high-quality microphone is better than most headphones that I’ve ever heard. It wasn’t raspy or dull in any way. Clean, sharp, and smooth edges are what make this headphone powerful.

The one thing that makes this headphone different from the Cloud II is that this headphone is equipped with Bluetooth so after you’re done gaming you can relax by listening to some music or listen to a book.

This headphone is only equipped with the best type of comfort. The deep ear cushions will pull you straight into the game without hesitation. Also, the HyperX MIX is compatible with most of your favorite consoles so no matter where you are… GAME ON!

(If you would like this headset in color you can get the HyperX Cloud II it’s cheaper but doesn’t have Bluetooth. The Cloud II does provide extra ear cushions.)

 Razer Kraken

Razer Kraken- Headset

Razer Kraken Built For First Person Shooters

The Razer Kraken, a headset built for first-person shooters. With high-quality spatial audio, hearing footsteps is now the easiest thing to do. Also, the headset has a lot of bass to it making things sound deeper than they would usually sound. For multi compatibly and better sound Razer has included a THX audio Controller that allows Pc players to join the fun. Along with the headset comes Razer’s iconic memory foam ear cushions. The ear cushions also have a cooling gel preventing the headset from over-heating.

The Razer Kraken is equipped with an integrated noise-canceling microphone. The only issue that I had with the microphone is that after playing for three hours I would have to unplug and plug the headset back into my controller because the microphone overheated and started to glitch out. Nevertheless, this headset proved that it is one of the best gaming headsets far none.

(The Razer Kraken cost $70. However, if you get the same thing without the THX audio controller it only costs $40.THX audio only works for Pc)

Compatibility- Xbox, Playstation 4|5, PC

RIG 800LX Wireless

RIG 800LX- headset

RIG 800LX

I’ve been personally using the RIG 700HX for a couple of years now, and I can say that it doesn’t disappoint. But the headphone that I’m reviewing now is the RIG 800LX a new and modified version of the 700.

But what’s different between the two? Well right off the bat something that I noticed is that on the RIG 700 you get a detachable microphone however the 800XL has a retractable microphone that is connected to the headphone. Another noticeable thing is that the RIG 800 has the stunning ski google headband and the 700 has the ordinary plush memory foam headband.

The RIG 800 has an additional feature that will let chose which preset you want out of 4. These preset include Pure(This is their signature sound), Seismic(This helps boost the bass), Intensify(Help focus on detail sounds), and Vocal(Emphasizes vocal frequencies). The 700 does not have this feature however it still sounds great.

Something else that makes this headphone unique is that when you turn it on it will tell you the batterie life and if the headphone is connected(An example of what the headphone might say is-Power ON, Batter medium headset not connected).

Throughout playing games, if your headphone gets low it will move down from batterie high to batterie medium and so on. The volume knob is an endless scroll wheel but when you’re using it, it will alert you when you are at the loudest volume.

The headphone is also super comfortable and took no time to get broken into. Since this headphone is widely open a lot of airflow comes through the headphone keeping it cool.

Compatibility- Xbox, Windows 10

JBL Quantum 600

JBL- Headset

JBL Quantum 600

The JBL Quantum 600 wasn’t as bad as I thought. My initial thought was that it was another cheap headset that broke as soon as you got it. But to my surprise, it was the opposite.

Starting with comfort. Its ear cushions and headband are made from nice plush pleather that is super soft and comfortable. Though the only thing with leatherette is that it tends to get hot after some time, but for the most part very nice.

The ear cushions have great depths to them so your ears will fit snug right inside them. The ear cushions don’t come off so replacing them might not be a possibility. However, the ear cups do swivel and move cleanly so finding a sweet spot for your head won’t be too hard.

The durability doesn’t seem to be as strong as some of our higher-end headphones but it still has a durable hard shell plastic that will keep your headphones safe.

The microphone works by pulling it down just like the HyperX Cloud Stinger, RIG 800, and Sennheiser Game One headphones. This is very convenient for muting and unmuting your mic within a second. The sound of the microphone is good but nothing out of the ordinary.

For the most part, this headphone was a hit, but in my personal opinion, the design of it wasn’t my cup of tea. It felt over-accessorized and the shape of the ear cushions was a little off to me. Other than that it was a great headphone to play with.

Compatibility-PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch

Turtle Beach- Headset

Turtle Beach Elite Pro2

The Turtle Beach Elite Pro2 is such a nice headset. It’s amazing features that perform incredibly make it hard for us not to put it on our list of best gaming headsets. A thing I love is that the Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 is incorporated with a glasses-friendly option that allows you to wear your glasses without the temples pressing too hard against your face. I admire how they add this feature in. It allows more people to have fun while playing their favorite games.

I enjoyed how smoothly the headset worked together and nothing caused any problems throughout the time I was able to use them.

The headset does have a medium to high clamping force making it somewhat uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks using them. Though the gel-infused headset feels great. Barely any heat will come through the headset but wearing them for more than a couple of hours can get them hot.

The Elite Pro2 has metal brackets that will keep your headset from breaking. The metal didn’t feel cheap either so don’t get worried about it breaking.

Overall I liked how this headset performed. It sounded and felt great. Do check it out, it was a great headset to use.

HyperX Cloud Stinger

HyperX- Headset

HyperX Cloud Stinger

The HyperX Cloud Stinger was a refreshing headset to use. All the newer headsets that I’ve been reviewing have felt high-tech. But with this headset, it felt simple and relaxing to use.

I had no problems whatsoever when wearing them. This headset is very comfortable. It uses just the right amount of clamping force to make sure the headset doesn’t smash against your head. It doesn’t have the iconic 90-degree swivel but the ear cushions can still go in towards each other and out.
A cool thing about the microphone is that since it’s already connected to the headset all you need to do to mute it is lift it. The microphone itself is also really clear and smooth, and easy to adjust.

Even without anything playing the noise cancelation on this headset works fairly well. The Stinger is one of the best gaming headsets to consider if you are on a budget.
